Annuals:

An annual is a plant that usually germinates flowers and dies in one year, such as Pansies or Impatiens.  They are a wonderful way to give your landscape vibrant and colorful additions.  Different annuals come and go with the seasons.  For this purpose, they are often placed into the following 2 categories:

Spring Annuals

Fall Annuals

Perennials and Ground Covers:

Perennials are plants that grow and bloom over the spring and summer and then die back every autumn and winter to return the following year, such as Day Lilies or Peonies.  The distinguishable difference from annuals is they are not removed at the end of their season.

Ground Covers refer to non-grass plants that are used in place of grasses, such as Periwinkle or Pachysandra.  This is an ornamental way of covering areas in your landscape.  Some ground covers are deciduous and some are evergreen, depending on the choice.  This is an excellent database to provide you with examples of the different types of perennials and ground covers offered:

Bulbs:

Bulbs are also a colorful way to brighten up the look of your landscape, such as Tulips or Daffodils.  Typically they are planted in late summer and fall. Most common ones will produce their flowers by spring the following year.  However depending on the bulb chosen, some might not bloom until summer.  The following is a wonderful resource showing the different varieties, as well as bloom times for bulbs:

Animal Deterrents:

We see deer more often within the winter season because food is sparse.  They find our dormant winter foliage and evergreen plants as a wonderful and easily accessible source of nutrients. However, don't assume they won't partake in enjoying lunch within your landscape during the other seasons as well, even when food is in abundance.  To protect your investment, we can provide the following deterrents to attempt to keep them off your plantings:

Deer Scram

Deer Fencing

Liquid Fence

Rabbits feed by grazing on grass, vegetation and leafy weeds. As a result of their appetites, and the rate at which they breed, wild rabbit depredation can be problematic. Moles burrow in lawns, raising molehills, and killing the lawn. They can undermine plant roots, indirectly causing damage or death.  If you have either near your landscape, make sure that you protect it!  We can provide the following deterrents to attempt to keep them out of landscape:

Rabbit Scram

Dual Action Rabbit Repellent

Mole Scram

Mole Repellent Spray

Insecticides, Fungicides and Herbicides:

Lace bugs feed on the undersides of leaves by piercing the epidermis and sucking the sap.  Leaf Spots are round blemishes found on the leaves of plants, mostly caused by parasitic fungi or bacteria.  Weeds are plants that grow and reproduce aggressively; we consider them to be a nuisance in our landscape beds. Regardless of which might be lingering around your foliage, the following 2 informational web sites contain products that can be used to get rid of these pesky problems:
